Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Review | Ready-Up

Ready-Up writes: 'This is a rare situation. Usually I would slave over my keyboard trying to form a cohesive, and informative critique with the hope of educating the reader as to the quality of whatever game I am reviewing. All the while fearing that readers would simply skip to the summary, and score, taking that as my opinion, and making the majority of my caffeine-fueled words redundant. With this review I hope that every single reader does just that because I cannot, in good conscience, lavish praise upon this game without first addressing its significant shortcomings.'

ZTGD | Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (3DS) Review

Added: 02.04.2013 14:18 | 0 views | 0 comments

Drew Leachman writes: I have a unique relationship with Monster Hunter. I put over 30 hours into Freedom Unite on the PSP, and only two hours in Tri on the Wii. Monster Hunter might take several hours to sink its teeth into me, but once it does, Im hooked. The series can be very daunting for players that are new to the series, and the lack of hand-holding can turn off even experienced action RPG fans. One thing is for certain, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate has everything I wanted in my next Monster Hunter addiction, though the significant improvements come with some equally large shortcomings.

Capcom reveals 'major' children's effort

Added: 02.04.2013 12:57 | 1 views | 0 comments

Dead Rising publisher announces "expansive cross-media project" Gaist Crusher aimed at elementary school age boys for 3DS, comics, anime, music, and toys; no word on Western release.

Capcom announced today that it is beginning work on a "major" cross-media initiative for children's content in Japan. The first part of this push will be Gaist Crusher, a new 3DS game that focuses on "armors, transformations, and collections."

Gaist Crusher is an action game that features "high-grade" multiplayer that is likened to that of the Monster Hunter series. Capcom said the knowledge it has amassed producing content for children through the Mega Man series will benefit Gaist Crusher.

Elementary school age boys are the primary focus of the project, Capcom said.

Gaist Crusher will not only be a 3DS title, but Capcom has partnered with other firms to expand the game to fields like comics, anime, music, and toys. The game will be promoted in Japanese magazines, through music from Avex Entertainment Inc., and with toys called "Gaimetal" from Bandai Co.

"Overall, this will be an expansive cross-media project," Capcom said in a statement. "With the number of children in Japan declining, Capcom plans to use this project to attract interest in new brands and firmly establish these brands by continuously launching a diverse range of content."

News: Wii U console sales up thanks to price cuts and Monster Hunter

Added: 02.04.2013 10:51 | 15 views | 0 comments

Monster Hunter has, however, plummeted from No.7 to No.39 in the chart.

In addition to attributing the rise to interest in Monster Hunter, last month's hefty £140 price cut on the Premium ZombiU console at HMV must have helped.

New release Lego City Undercover isn't said to have improved console sales.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

Demand for Monster Hunter clearly isn't that strong, however, with the game dropping from No.7 to No.39 in today's UK Video Game Chart.

GamingUnion.net: "Monster Hunter is one of those games that seems to always get overlooked. That hasn't stopped Capcom from trying though and with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate they may just have what the franchise needs to grow its fan base. Not only does Monster Hunter Ultimate 3 caters to veterans of the series, but is also kinder to anyone new to the franchise, making it a very potent combination."
